2008 - “Student Paradise” becomes the biggest academic year opening event in the Baltics
“Student Paradise” must become a tradition, so on the 18th of September 2008 it is organized the second time.
14 Latvian universities took part in organizing the event, bringing together more than 10,000 visitors. The event became the biggest academic year opening event in the Baltics. The ambitiousness and meaning of the event in young people's life was proven by it being revealed by a special guest of honor – our country's ex-president Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, as well as university rectors, who greeted their students in the new academic year.
Fifteen musicians, bands and DJ’s, popular in Latvia, performed on three stages, such as „Tumsa”, „Labvēlīgais Tips”, „Double Faced Eals”, „R.A.P”, Ella, DJ Crash, DJ Gustavito, „Triānas Parks” and others, while the well known and smart Ufo played the role of “the father of the paradise”. The university-designed stands made the event more attractive and interesting – students could have fun as they wished – milk a cow, take photos...
To inform the students about the event, the “Student Paradise” team participated in some of the biggest events of Latvia, where they attracted visitors using competitions, photographing and video interviews. There was also an event pre-party, in which teams of universities competed in an improvised rally with self made vehicles.
This year the “Student Paradise” anthem was made up, and two young people had the chance to manage the event together with Ufo.
Demonstrations of the event were shown in the sites draugiem.lv and studentuparadize.lv, so that anyone who was interested in the event could follow the process.
2007 - “Student Paradise” gains “Debut of the year” prize!
“Student Paradise” took place the first time on the 13th of September 2007, when nine universities joined together to bring together 5,000 students. The main idea of the project was to create the biggest student event to bring together students from several universities in one event.
This event was held in two parts : day and night paradise. Day paradise was a public event in Esplanāde, where students could be acquainted with the project's informative stands. In the night part, students had the choice to party in one of the three or all three event venues (depending on taste in music) – Sapņu Fabrika A.K.A. Heaven Disco („Tumsa”, „Gain Fast”, „Z-scars” performed, with host Ufo), La Rocca A.K.A. Club Disco (appropriate atmosphere was created by the laser, dance and bartender shows) and Student Club A.K.A.Alternative Paradise („Dzelzs vilks”, Ghetoo Zloba” and „Cilvēks ar putniņu” performed). Paralell to the entertainment part students were welcomed by attractive speeches from university rectors, wishing the students a successful study year.
The event turned out so ambitious that it recieved the Latvian Student Association Award in the nomination “Debut of the Year”, which confirmed the significance of the project in the culture and entertainment lives of the Latvian students.
